January 25th, 2007
10:03 am - It's been too long! It's nearly the end of January and I haven't posted anything for 2 months. Not that I've had much time to post, although I have had time to go on Facebook a fair bit! I suppose the difference with this and Facebook is all my friends (old and new) are on there and its a lot easier to keep up to date with them on there now I don't get to see people as much. Its been very handy in finding people I went to school with and old friends long lost in the past.
Anyway, I'm good. Not feeling too bad considering the lack of sleep. I haven't lost as much weight as I had hoped to by now, but I was working on the bases of losing weight in the same way as I did when I first started uni. Eating healthily, power walking back and forth from campus and clubbing every week (a good form of exercise) doesn't happen very much anymore. Now we're in a better routine though I hope to do a lot more walking, I'm never buying chips again, and Grandma will be around soon to babysit so clubbing may happen a bit more too. There's always my lovely Lateral Thigh Trainer and Pump It Up DVD to get my heart going as well. Current Location: Ings View

09:56 am - Lines from Journal January *Don't think I was even on LJ at the time!*
February ...I have a Live Journal! Although I've never been very good at keeping diaries, I figure this journal might actually get written in.
March Hasn't it been a while since I last posted anything on here! *Makes February look silly now!*
April First of all, NaSTA was great, and I'm so pleased my Ident won an award. I can't really be bothered to write anything more than that on the subject though. I've got to put NaSTA behind me now, and finally get on with my work!
May For the first time in a long time, I feel like I've actually managed to do something worthwhile for a change.
June Lots of sorting to do today, as we are heading back home to drop off some of the stuff we don't need so much anymore. I'll be moving into Rick's in less than a month's time, but currently I won't fit.
July The worst thing about going on holiday is coming back to your normal boring life. Over the last few days I have done nothing but cleaning and laundry, occasionally burning the odd DVD in between. Why can't life be a bit more exciting?! *Only 1 post in July*
August Yesterday I had to pop on to campus to do a few bits. I stopped to get some food and while sat on a bench eating a cheese and onion sandwich for my elevenses, I was approached by a girl. *Shocking stuff*
September *I didn't post anything in September!*
October Not having the Internet for a while has resulted in a lack of entries from me. It hasn't helped that when we got broadband back last Monday I didn't have time to post anything either! *That explains September*
November I can't believe how time has flown by. It doesn't feel like nearly 4 weeks since term started again.
December *Nothing in December either, but we know why that is!* Current Location: Ings View

08:41 pm - LJ is poo!! I've been wondering why no one has made any posts on my Friends page for ages. Sat at my computer now and seeing Rick on LJ, I asked if certain people who's posts he also reads were dead or not. It turns out that everyone is alive and well, and that my Friends page has been stuck on 31st October! I now have 20 days worth of posts to read! If I wasn't so preoccupied by everything going on in my life I might have realised that apparently nobody had been having a life of their own for so long.

02:41 pm My God! At some point in the last few weeks, BBC 1 have replaced Diagnosis Murder with Murder She Wrote!

01:40 pm I can't believe how time has flown by. It doesn't feel like nearly 4 weeks since term started again.
I've spent most of that time in YSTV. It's been really good to get out of the house and see all my friends again. I didn't realise how bored I was actually getting of sitting and watching crappy TV over the summer. Even if I've just been sat around YSTV, I've been able to chat to everyone about what they've been up to and bitch about certain people we don't like just like we always did last year (we've even got certain new members to bitch about now too!). I wasn't expecting things to have changed with YSTV over the summer, but considering how some people are still treating me lately, expecting the worst was the best thing to do.
So when I haven't been gabbing away to people, I have actually been doing something worthwhile for my favourite society. This year we decided to film various Freshers Week events, including interviewing all the drunk people on these socials. Although I didn't help with the filming (it would have been too much for me), I volunteered to edit the VTs afterwards. Some of the footage was very dodgy in terms of successful filming, as well as being dodgy footage of drunk freshers, but I managed to edit something together and I'm quite proud of what I achieved. Freshers Week was actually a Freshers Fortnight this year (mainly because YUSU couldn't get Fresh booked at the racecourse until end of Week 2), so editing took up most of the first two weeks of term.
During Week 2, YSTV held its usual freshers events as well. The Welcome Meeting went very well, and we all had a laugh at what people managed to come up with for their Bodges. We had a record number of people sign up this year, both on the mailing list and in paid members. We've also seen record numbers of people come along to the Workshops as well. Last year saw 30-odd people come along, this year we had 30-odd at the Tuesday night workshop. A second workshop was held on the Thursday night too, which attracted nearly 30 people again even with YUSU's legendary Viking Raid taking place that night.
Since then I've mainly been helping crew shows. We've been leaving the sign up sheets clear for freshers to sign up this week and last. I've made sure I've been around though to help brief crew and to see how all our new shows have gone. As Production Director, I feel I should at least watch the shows, if not be around to help with them, so that I can offer guidance and advice when needed. We've got 5 new shows this year (the last of which goes out tonight) and good ol' LipSync too. The shows have gone really well despite some of the odds stack against them. Welcome to Venus could have been a complete disaster with 6 nearly inexperienced producers, but they've made so much effort to learn so much that their first show was really good. Richard's YSTV Live was a slight technical shambles (ironic with Richard being our smartest techie) with most of the equipment needed not working, but he found ways around it and pulled off a brilliant show. Matthew's last minute bodges for FourPlay were some of the most hilarious things I've seen done with a show, and the format was not only great to watch but also brilliant to play (I ended up being a contestant when some people didn't show up). And last night, Rowan and Sarah produced a spectacular show, of which I'm highly jealous of considering as I was originally meant to produce and present with Rowan. At least I managed to get a VT in the show and a credit at the end!
I seem to have written quite a bit about YSTV and nothing else, and now Neighbours is on, so I'll finish catching up with my life later on. Current Location: home for a change

10:59 am I think I've been watching too many House episodes lately. This morning I've had a dream with Hugh Laurie in it diagnosing me with a problem caused by a tarantula! I'm glad I haven't been able to watch Diagnosis Murder lately!

03:05 pm - Bloody NatWest!! I've never had a problem with NatWest before (I've been banking with them since I was 14), and even now I don't have a problem with them when it comes to doing my banking. However, since moving house and getting a new telephone number, we have been receiving phone calls from NatWest's credit card centre for someone other than ourselves. Unfortunately its an automated service as well, so we can't tell anyone that its not this person's number anymore and of course there is no option to press to let them know this either. I've just tried to find a complaints number for NatWest on their website, but the only number they give is the one for personal banking. The online form to fill in isn't very well designed, its more of a customer feedback form than a complaints one, so even though I've filled it in I can't be sure my complaint will ever reach the right person. Its a shame really, because my faith in my bank has now dropped slightly even though they haven't actually done anything to me personally.

10:32 am Not having the Internet for a while has resulted in a lack of entries from me. It hasn't helped that when we got broadband back last Monday I didn't have time to post anything either!
Term starts again on Monday and so everyone is coming back slowly but surely. Hopefully some of us will be going out on Wednesday night for a pre-Freshers week piss up, or a lemonade-fest for me! I'm hoping to get a week's bus pass so I can travel over to campus everyday next week and help prepare for Freshers fair. In the mean time I have lots of homely things to be doing.
With only 8 weeks to go now until a certain someone pops into the world (pop? yeah right!), Rick and I have got to get on with buying everything we need for baby. We already have some of the big essentials like pram, cot, baby bath and some clothes, but its amazing how much stuff you need. We've decided to use re-useable nappies (saving the world on the cheap) which means buying in a load of those, there's still a certain amount of stuff needed for feeding even though I'll breastfeed, and then there seem to be a load of little bits that you don't seem to think about but that we will need. A list is being drawn up as I go through a helpful guide on what you need and what you might want. Many of the luxury items listed we won't bother with.
I'm popping into town today to sort some errands out. I'm hoping to meet up with Rowan for coffee, and then Rick and I are going out for dinner tonight as well.

09:54 am I'm in YSTV right now, spending a lot of time here this morning to get hold of some footage I need. Typically I can only get hold of one of the 2 pieces I want, so at some point I'll have to come back and do more work. Sods law will of course prevail, for this half-completed job I will miss receiving eBay items now! Current Location: York Uni Campus

12:49 pm - Did you know...? I'm sure a lot of people know this. It just shows what sort of bubble I live in. Wensleydale cheese is made in Wensleydale obviously, but I didn't know Wensleydale is in Yorkshire!
I like cheese but it doesn't mean I have a clue where certain types come from exactly, except for some of the cheddar I buy, that sometimes says 'Irish' or 'Scottish' on the packet. You can't always be sure that the name of the cheese is also a place name (fancy some Chingford Cheese, Larkin?). I've had this Wensleydale fact brought to my attention today as I run an errand I forgot to do yesterday. As I walked up Lawrence Street I was passed by a van with 'Wensleydale Bacon' written on the side of it. I thought this bacon must also come from Wensleydale like the cheese does, but I was surprised to see the company address on the van said Northallerton (a town near York). A quick Google search has allowed me to pinpoint Wensleydale in the Yorkshire Dales and to discover that Wensleydale Bacon Ltd. also make cheese as well as bacon! Current Mood: cheerful
